Bredin Report: SMB SaaS Purchase Plans

In Bredin’s most recent SMB Pulse survey of 500 U.S. small and midsized business (SMB) principals, we explored their SaaS adoption intentions. Our research reveals that SaaS adoption plans vary dramatically by company size and that all SMBs share a demand for reliability, functionality and security in any cloud application they adopt.

The table below details SMBs’ current SaaS application use by company headcount. A few data points stand out. SMBs with fewer than 100 employees are most likely to use document creation and storage apps in the cloud, while those with 100 to 500 employees are most likely to use IaaS.

Current SaaS Usage by company size

SaaS adoption plans for 2023 vary dramatically by company size. Next year, SMBs with fewer than 20 employees are most likely to acquire a CRM solution like Salesforce, while those with 20-99 employees are most likely to acquire IaaS and VoIP. SMBs with 100-500 employees are most likely to acquire IaaS, followed by videoconferencing and data security solutions.
