Bredin Report: How SMBs Use AI

New Bredin research shows that SMBs are using AI most for administrative work, marketing, business intelligence and customer support.

In our recent survey of 500 U.S.-based SMB principals, virtual assistant is the number one implementation of AI. Virtual assistants — that use natural language commands to complete administrative tasks like making calls and scheduling meetings — have grown in popularity by 44% among SMBs using AI since Bredin conducted research in April.

After virtual assistants, small businesses (SBs, with 20 to 99 employees) are most likely to use AI for business intelligence/analytics. For their part, midsized businesses (MBs, with 100 to 500 employees) are second most likely to use AI for customer service, and data security third. MBs are significantly more likely to use AI for data security than very small businesses (VSBs, with fewer than 20 employees).

SMBs also use AI for marketing management. It ranks second for VSBs, third for SBs, and fourth for MBs.
