Preferences vary by company size
May 9, 2024
We recently surveyed 500 SMB principals to find out which media they use most when first learning about products and services for their business – in other words, which information sources are most effective for driving awareness of your offerings. The answer varies quite a bit by company size.
Very small businesses (VSBs, with fewer than 20 employees) are most likely to use search. They are next most likely to use Facebook, followed by peers and colleagues outside of their company. After that, they use radio and TV, followed by email.
Small businesses (SBs, with 20 to 99 employees) are most, and equally, likely to use YouTube and live events such as conferences and trade shows. After those, SBs use search, print publications, and radio or TV.
Like VSBs, midsized businesses (MBs, with 100 to 500 employees) rely most on search to learn about offerings for their business. However, they are equally likely to listen to podcasts. After those, MBs are most likely to talk to peers and colleagues, and attend live events.
