Bredin Report: How SMBs Learn About Payment Solutions

The top information sources for SMBs to first learn about and then research payment solutions are search, peers and technology solution providers. Variations exist by size of SMB and these differences are important to your marketing and sales planning. This insight comes from our most recent SMB Pulse survey of 500 U.S.-based principals.

Very small businesses (VSBs, with fewer than 20 employees) and small businesses (SBs, with 20 to 99 employees) use search the most (e.g., Google, Yahoo or Bing) to find and learn more about research payment solutions. After search, VSBs turn to peers, and general business and news sites. For SBs the second and third most used sources of information are sales representatives and accountants.

Midsized businesses (MBs, with 100 to 500 employees) are most likely to learn about and select a payment option with the help of a technology consultant or managed service provider (MSP). After tech solution providers, MBs are next most likely to use search, followed by ratings or review sites such as G2.
